From the proposal: "My proposal for Johann-Gottfried-Herder-Gymnasium is to think of the main staircase of the school building simply as an autobahn. The staircase is the building’s busiest area, with students and teachers running up and down in constant movement. The playful painted murals consist of three colors in various shape combinations: white retro-reflective street marking paint, highly visible neon yellow, and graphite dark grey, resembling asphalt. The Johann-Gottfried-Herder-Gymnasium is proud and known for it’s multilingual and highly international student mix. On the Road signifies these values though the notion of movement and travel in space, seeing the Gymnasium as a dynamic common ground for the exchange of cultural knowledge and experience."
